Access to environments where the target language is used in meaningful social interaction is a crucial yet often underexamined condition for second language (L2) development and migrant integration. The SMALL (Solving the problem of Migrants' Access to the Local Language) work package, situated within the Erasmus+ project on Language Learning in the Wild, draws on ethnographic and participatory design methodologies to investigate how access to Danish-speaking environments can be facilitated through stakeholder-driven interventions. Findings demonstrate that co-designed tools, ethnographic insight, and iterative engagement with stakeholders enhance learners' confidence, participation, and access to authentic interaction. The WP results contribute to ecological and socially oriented approaches to SLA by foregrounding "access" as a central analytical and pedagogical construct.
